150 people died from coronavirus disease in Nigeria ―NCDC
NCDC in its daily report on Monday, May 11, noted aside the coronavirus deaths cases recorded in Nigeria, 902 patients have so far recovered from the virus.
It also stated that 242 new cases of the virus have been confirmed, thereby, increasing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 4,641.
In a tweet late Monday, the Centre reported 88 new cases of the virus in Lagos, 64 in Kano, 49 in Katsina and 13 in Kaduna.
According to the health agency, Ogun state had nine cases, Gombe six, Adamawa four, and the FCT three.
Six other states – Ondo, Oyo, Rivers, Zamfara, Borno, and Bauchi – reported one case each.
The novel coronavirus has killed at least 283,978 people since the outbreak first emerged in China last December, according to a tally from official sources compiled by AFP at 1900 GMT on Monday.

At least 4,148,350 cases of coronavirus have been registered in 195 countries and territories. Of these, at least 1,396,200 are now considered recovered.
The tallies, using data collected by AFP from national authorities and information from the World Health Organization (WHO), probably reflect only a fraction of the actual number of infections.
Many countries are testing only the most serious cases.
Since 1900 GMT on Sunday, there have been 3,294 confirmed deaths and 77,313 new cases. The United States registered most deaths with 836, Brazil was next with 496 and then France with 263.
The US has the highest number of total deaths with 79,894 out of 1,339,819 cases. At least 216,169 have been declared recovered.
Britain has the second-highest toll with 32,065 deaths from 223,060 cases.
It is followed by Italy with 30,739 deaths and 219,814 cases, Spain with 26,744 fatalities and 227,436 infections and France with 26,643 deaths and 177,423 cases.
China — excluding Hong Kong and Macau — has to date declared 4,633 deaths and 82,918 cases. It has 78,144 recovered cases.
Belgium is the country with the most cases as a proportion of its population with 75 deaths per 100,000, followed by Spain (57), Italy (51), Britain (47), and France (41).
Europe has a total of 157,271 deaths from 1,756,578 cases, the United States and Canada have 84,950 deaths and 1,409,724 cases, Latin America and the Caribbean have 20,909 deaths and 375,280 cases, Asia has 10,749 deaths and 301,143 cases, the Middle East has 7,656 deaths and 232,009 cases, Africa has 2,318 deaths from 65,338 cases, and Oceania 125 deaths from 8,285 cases.
Because of corrections by national authorities or late publication of data, the figures updated over the past 24-hour period may not correspond exactly to the previous day’s tallies.
COVID-19: Ekiti discharges 5 patients, expands isolation centre

Ekiti State Government on Monday disclosed that five patients of the deadly coronavirus pandemic have been discharged from the Isolation Centre in Ekiti on Monday.
This is just as the government revealed it’s a plan to expand the Isolation Centre to 100-bed space capacity for more preparation on the Pandemic.
Governor Kayode Fayemi had on Saturday evening broke the news on his Twitter handle that the state recorded new three cases.
According to the tweet from the Governor, “We got information from NCDC tonight that three more persons tested positive to COVID-19 virus. Two are contacts of the medical doctor still in our care and another person who sneaked into the state before he was quarantined. This underscores the need for extra vigilance. ”

With the development so far, Ekiti has 15 confirmed cases, 9 discharged,1 death, and five active cases.
Briefing Journalists on Monday on the update of the activities of the State task force on COVID-19, the state commissioner for Health and human services, Dr. Mojisola Yahaya Kolade said, “we are discharging 5 Patients today out of the 10 active cases, the discharged pa
tients are healthy now, they have been tested negative of Coronavirus
“Because of the increase in the Pandemic the governor has approved the expansion of the bed capacity in the Isolation Centre,as at today we have the 100-bed capacity, in case of any eventuality”
“We still have contacts of patients that we are tracing, the remaining patients in the Isolation Centre are being treated”
The Coordinator of Ekiti task force on COVID-19, Prof Bolaji Aluko said the government is making concerted effort to tackle the influx of strangers at the border.
“In terms of security, situations have indicated that people are moving in from another state. We have dispatched a lot of security to the strategic places, the strange visitors have been returned at the border”
Aluko added that the government is expecting 40 trucks of palliatives, he gave assurance of accountability before distribution.

The commissioner for the environment, Hon Gbenga Agbeyo who declared that fumigation at the Pandemic is crucial added that the government ensures the fumigation of public places every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The commissioner for Information and value orientation Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua who promised on regular update on the activities of the State task force.
