The 2019/20 Premier League campaign may currently be on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic, but the transfer speculation and gossip most certainly isn't.
In normal circumstances, the summer transfer window would have been opening in less than a month's time, paving the way for Premier League clubs to set about bolstering their squads ahead of the 2020/21 campaign kicking-off in August.
But, of course, these are not usual circumstances. We have no idea - at the time of writing - when this current season will end, if at all possible, when the next transfer window will officially open for business and when next season will begin.
Despite those three important factors, clubs are still plotting transfer moves and being linked with moves for big-name players and promising young talent.

And for Arsenal and Chelsea it is no different, with the two clubs being closely linked with a move for young Celtic midfielder Daniel Kelly.
But who exactly is he? Here, football.london has taken a close look at the talented young midfielder that the Gunners and the Blues have joined the race to sign...

Who is Daniel Kelly?

Kelly is a 15-year-old box-to-box midfielder that is currently on the books of Scottish giants Celtic.
He, despite his tender age, is considered as one of the most promising, young prospects north of the border and is already attracting big interest.
According to the Glasgow Times, five Premier League clubs are locked in a battle to sign him, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

What has he done so far?

Appreciating his age, Kelly, of course, is yet to play professional first-team football.

But he has already played for Celtic's Under-18s, which is a massive achievement and shows just how good Celtic's academy bosses must think he is when he is only 15.
He has been regularly watched by Premier League scouts and they have been left turning their heads by what they have seen from the teenager.
It is also claimed that Kelly impressed in the Sheffield Trophy, where Celtic's youngsters finished the tournament as runners-up.

Why would Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs want him?

In this day and age, football clubs are always on the lookout for fresh, new, young, exciting talent, regardless of how old the player in question might be.
Though it is very hard to predict Kelly's full potential at just 15-years-old, the signs suggest that there must be a player capable of going a long way if he is already applying his trade at Under-18 level.
Clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are always on the hunt for a new crop of talent and could be keen to include him in their next academy intake, should Celtic be willing to let him go if they receive an offer they see as respectable.

What is Celtic's stance on the midfielder?

Understandably, Celtic are desperate to keep hold of Kelly and avoid losing him to one of the Premier League's elite for a minimal fee.

The 50-times Scottish champions found themselves in a similar scenario last year when they were forced into letting go of defender Liam Morrison, who joined German giants Bayern Munich.
Therefore, Celtic are desperate to avoid a repeat of that and plan to do all that they can to keep hold of the talented 15-year-old. It is reported by The Times, via The Sun, that Celtic have offered him a first professional contract in the hope that he will commit his long-term future to the club.
As a side note, Kelly is a student in the St Ninian's High School programme - the same place where Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney was developed into the player he now is.
