Here are the Arsenal evening headlines on Tuesday, May 19.
Bellerin on how he plans to inspire Arsenal’s next generation
One of the Gunners’ longest-serving players, Bellerin has become a de facto elder statesman in north London, and this carries further pressures, but he is welcoming his role with open arms thanks to the return of the man who did the same for him.
“From the football side, Mikel Arteta when he was at Arsenal as a player would give me financial advice and even life advice. Even then he was showing the leadership qualities back then that makes him a manager, Bellerin told football.london in an exclusive and wide-ranging interview.
“If you don’t have people that can be honest with you, then you won’t ever grow as a person. I was very lucky with the people I had around me and it means the world to me to have young players looking up to me in the same way.”
Edu sheds light on how Arsenal seal deals like Martinelli signing
And the Brazilian has elained the process which brought his compatriot Gabriel Martinelli to the Emirates Stadium.
"It’s very important to emphasise that in football nobody does anything alone," Edu told ESPN Brasil.
“I don’t think that the first one who saw Martinelli was Edu. Other people saw him before, after these first people there’s another process, go to a scout, then come to me, you do an analysis, talk to the coach and the entire finance department.”
Since joining from Ituano in July, Martinelli has scored 10 goals in 26 appearances, netting at a rate of once every 108 minutes according to WhoScored.

Benfica star keen on Arsenal move, according to reports
Benfica and Portugal winger Rafa Silva has responded positively to talk of an Arsenal switch, according to reports in his homeland.
The 27-year-old has nine goals and four assists this season, per WhoScored, and is approaching the move “with good eyes,” according to Correio da Manha, as translated by Sport Witness.
Silva played once during Portugal’s run to the Euro 2016 title but wasn’t involved for his country at the 2018 World Cup.
However, his 17 goals in the 2018/19 season was bested only by Benfica team-mate Haris Seferovic and Bruno Fernandes, now of Manchester United.
