Arsenal renewed negotiations with £30m rated Eredivisie left back Nicolas Tagliafico

Gunners are set to make a move for Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico with Mikel Arteta reportedly eager to bring in a new left-back to allow Bukayo Saka to push further forward. In an often frustrating campaign, the emergence of Saka has been one of the bright spots of the season, with Bukayo laying on nine assists in all tournaments.

However, both Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney, in particular, have struggled with injury and form, forcing Saka to deputise out of position at left-back. While Spaniard has been impressed with how well Bukayo has adapted and developed the defensive side of the match, he wants to come back him to his natural role as a forward

That has seen Mikel prioritise signing a new left-back to ensure Bukayo does not end up getting pushed back into the role again next campaign and he has his eye on Argentina International.

Tagliafico has quickly established himself as one of the stand-out defenders in Europe since moving to Ajax in 2018, helping the side win the Eredivisie last campaign and reach the semi-final of the UCL.

Nicolas is believed to be open to moving to Arsenal and keen for a new challenge, with the PL particularly appealing, though there are several clubs interested in signing him.

The likes of Chelsea, Blaugrana and Atletico Madrid have all been linked with the Argentine defender, who has a deal allowing him to leave the Dutch club this summer if a suitable offer is received. Ajax’s asking price is believed to be nearly £20m.
